This is my first time subscribing to Pijon Box because I couldn’t pass up the 50% off promo code they had! I’ve seen their past boxes and have always wanted to sign up, but their price point is a little high for me because I’d rather spend around the same amount on a Popsugar box! But that’s just my opinion. 🙂 In any case, this is their last box of the 2013-2014 academic year. Their next box ships August 2014, I believe.
So as you may have guessed, their target audience are college students!
Ips – Egg White Chips in BBQ and Aged White Cheddar ($3): I’ve never heard of these before! So naturally I was curious. I love savory snacks (especially chips) so I was really excited to see these in the box, especially since these were the first things I saw. I’ve actually already inhaled the BBQ flavored bag. They’re interesting and it’s actually hard to describe their texture because they’re a little different from popchips and more substantial, but they also kind of melt in your mouth after a while. (probably because of the egg whites). Verdict? I like them! Can’t wait to try the cheddar flavored ones.
Morning Sunshine Breakfast Cookie in Apple Cinnamon Quinoa ($2.75) – This was really good! I love apple cinnamon anything so I knew I’d probably like it. It’s really crumby and dry on the outside, but the inside is really moist and soft. There are real pieces of apple inside and it was very cinnamon-packed! I think this would definitely go great with a glass of milk as breakfast or as a snack. I could not eat this in one sitting, haha. I actually slowly ate it throughout the day because it’s just so much. But I enjoyed every bite! This was a hearty cookie.
Raw Revolution Super Food Bar in Dark Chocolate Trail Mix ($1.50) – I haven’t tried this yet but I think this will be interesting. You can’t really go wrong with dark chocolate and trail mix. Unless you hate nuts and seeds, of course.
Dry Soda in Cherry ($1.50) – I haven’t tried this yet either, but I’ve had the vanilla bean and cucumber flavors of this soda before! It’s really a kick of carbonation and the advertised flavor without too much sugar. The best thing is that it’s only 60 calories so if you don’t want to just drink sparkling water or flavored sparkling water, you can have this instead! There is 15 grams of sugar in this can, but that’s almost half as much as a regular can… so you decide whether or not this is a good substitute. :p
Biotera Dry Shampoo ($5.50) – I’m not very familiar with dry shampoos because I still think the best way to keep your hair clean is to actually wash your hair. But I wash my hair every other day (because washing it every day isn’t good for it!) so on hotter days, I actually do want to use something like dry shampoo to keep my hair from looking gross. I’ve only sampled Klorane’s dry shampoo and liked the scent, but I don’t think I’m using it right? I don’t know, it’s not very effective for me. Maybe this one will be better though! I’ll give it a try. 😀
MSC Exfoliating Body Scrub in Grapefruit and Mint ($33) – This is a FULL SIZE ITEM. I was ECSTATIC when I saw this in the box because I’ve been wanting to try a body/sugar scrub and now I have one that is absolutely amazing. I love, love, love the scent! You can’t really smell the grapefruit because the spearmint is so overpowering but omg this is absolutely amazing. I tried it tonight when I took a shower and now my legs feel so smooth!
When I first saw this, I was like… uh…. what company is this? Well, this is a NY based company and they sell all sorts of skin care and bath products! If you’re interested in finding out more about them, you can visit their website!
A really close look at all those sugar crystals! I think mine might have been a little dried up? I don’t know, but it worked well in the shower, so I have no complaints!
The May 2014 Pijon Box!
Overall Value: $47.25
Overall Enjoyment: I found myself really enjoying the snacks that they included – and that’s rare, haha! I mean, I didn’t really enjoy a lot of the snacks Coed Supply sent out, so maybe Pijon Box is more my speed? In any case, this box was fantastic for me because I only paid $15 shipped and received $47 worth of products, all of which I can use or eat. I might be tempted to sign up for Pijon Box again if they come out with another promo code because I think their boxes are pretty amazing.
