Recently, I was asked by Memebox to review one of their products, so of course I said yes! I’ve heard a lot about them and was interested in seeing what they were all about. I will say that I was hoping to try one of their skincare boxes, but the box I received was definitely a lot of fun.

This box is already sold out, so hopefully you ordered one while it was still in stock! (There were also two other colors to choose from – orange and blue, but those are also already sold out, as it is with most Memeboxes when reviews start rolling out). But they still have a lot of other boxes available for purchase on their website!

Also, I will say that it’s great they include detailed information cards in these boxes because almost all of the writing on the products themselves are in Korean, so unless you’re fluent… you’re out of luck. All the prices for the items below are from the information card.

Cheek Room Two Color Lip Gloss (Full size: 8 ml, $12)

For some reason, the model on the outer packaging reminds me of Scarlett Johansson.

So this is something I’ve never seen before. It’s two colors in one lipgloss! You can use the top layer for a deeper red lip color, but you can also mix the two colors if you want a more natural color. I thought it was a lot of fun to play around with and have already kind of ruined the two layers. XD But the resulting color is a really nice coral if you really mix the two colors together! It goes on sheer and it actually complements my skin tone much better than I thought it would.

The formula is nice and not as sticky as I thought it would be! It’s also quite moisturizing. There is a slight candy taste to it, but nothing so noticeable that you would find it a distraction. It kind of reminds me of the NYX Butter Gloss from my June Ipsy bag, if you want a comparison.

And here is what the applicator looks like!

Dearberry Today Nail Lacquer #21 Pink Sprinkling (Full size: 10 ml, $3)

NOOOOOOOOOOO. Nail polish! Hahaha, but of course there would be nail polish. How could you not include nail polish in a makeup box full of red products? This is actually more of a less vibrant red creme than say, a fire engine red that’s really in your face. I think this would make a great gift or swap item because sadly, I don’t use nail polish. :p

Dearberry Flirt Lipstick 08 Red Parade (Full size: 3.4 g, $12)

It comes in a pink, plastic tube.

This is a beautiful, classic red. It’s really saturated with color, so you can really make a statement with this lipstick! My favorite thing about it is that there is literally no taste/scent associated with it. One thing I hate about lipstick is when they taste like makeup (I think you all know what I mean), so to find one that tastes like nothing? Yes please. It goes on really smoothly and if I were bolder in my makeup choices, I’d love to wear this daily! (but you know I won’t, haha).

Tosowoong Gel Pencil LIner 04 Burgundy (Full size: 1.2 g, $10)

DSC_0356

It’s sexy vampire burgundy. XD

Waterproof!

This is actually more brown than burgundy, which is actually good for me! I don’t think I can pull off red eyeliner at all. Unless it was for a Halloween costume or something to that effect. It applies nicely (or at least it did when I swatched it) and I can’t really rub it off the back of my hand, so I’d stay it has relatively decent staying power.

The next item was very carefully packaged in bubblewrap!

L’Ocean Eyeshadow L-35 Red (Full size: 4g, $10)

I… really have no idea how to incorporate this into any sort of daily makeup routine. I guess this would go well with the burgundy eyeliner to make a truly sexy vampire look for Halloween but Twilight is out of style. :p It’s more of a brick red than a bright red, which means it is more muted. You can also easily build color as you work with it.

Here are swatches of the products. From left to right: lipstick, eyeshadow, and eyeliner. (it was too messy to try and swatch the lip gloss, unfortunately)

The Memebox Color Box #1.

Overall value: If I go by the values listed on the info card, it adds up to $47.

Overall enjoyment: This was a fun box to open because I had no idea what I was going to receive other than the fact that it was all about red. (I was really sad that there weren’t any spoilers, actually… because I love spoilers) The only spoiler I had was the description they sent, which was:

“Colorbox was created for our Korean beauty lovers who want to spice up their lives with our bold color series. Our Colorbox is arranged with 3 to 4 full products and deluxe samples of the respective color so that you can have a taste of our bold colors.”

It was a well-thought out box with products for eyes, lips, and nails. I was surprised that there wasn’t a blush or a cheek tint of some sort in this box since it would have been a great way to round it all out. But I’ll take two lip products over a blush any day! I can’t say that I will use all the products since I really can’t think of a use for red eyeshadow and you all know I don’t wear nail polish, but overall not a bad first impression. I can definitely appreciate FIVE full size makeup products!

If you want to try out one of many Memeboxes they have for sale on their website, be sure to use the code 5DLDZLKTIM to take $5 off of any purchase!

One use per customer and it is valid from July 1st to July 31st.

If you would like to learn more… you can visit Memebox’s website and you can head on over to Bits and Boxes because Sarah posts a lot about Memeboxes + promo codes/deals and definitely knows more about them than me!  She also does awesome giveaways from time to time. 😉

    1. Seriously, you are the Memebox Queen! 😀 I know I can count on your blog for all the latest Memebox news!!

LOL I don’t know either but thankfully, all of them aren’t the same shade of red so I can really try to incorporate them into different looks! (except I don’t think I’m that makeup saavy hahaha)
