November was Taste Guru’s second month since rebranding themselves and I was once again lucky enough to receive a box for review! If you missed out on their first month (October), click here to see what they sent out and also to see their new commitment to their customers. 🙂
As you can see from the above photo, there was a magazine included this month! This magazine featured some awesome gluten-free recipes that take away the gluten, but not the taste of well-loved treats.
Information card! I’m just as terrible as always when it comes photographing these. 😄
The Bacon Jams Bacon Spread in Original Flavor – The item I was most excited for!!! This was also the spoiler for their November box. 😀 Full disclosure… I opened this and ate some straight out of the jar (with a spoon, of course) before I even bothered taking a photo. 😄 This is everything I had hoped it would be. The depth of flavor is intense! It’s smoky, sweet, and full of everything that is bacon. This honestly goes great on everything you can think of. I had it earlier today with a ham and swiss cheese sandwich on French bread. It seriously elevated my sandwich to another level with its flavor. I bet this would taste even better on a hamburger… or even a sea salt caramel dark chocolate brownie. 😉
Namaste Foods Seasoned Coating Mix – I hate cooking. No, really for all that I love baking… I am the polar opposite when it comes to cooking. It’s not that I’m bad at it, it’s just that I feel like it’s way too much effort and I’d rather just go get take-out (unhealthy, I know). But maybe I’ll give this a try because it seems easy enough, especially if I can just coat the protein, dump it all on a tray, and shove it in the oven to bake so that I don’t have to worry about it.
PIk-Nik Shoestring Potatoes in Sea Salt and Vinegar – If you’ve never had shoestring potatoes, you are seriously missing out! I’ve had these before, but only in the original flavor (which are also amazing). If you love potato chips, you’ll love these too. I think people actually use them to cook with (like as an outer crust/breading for chicken or fish). Sour cream and onion is probably my favorite flavor of all things potato chip-related, but salt and vinegar is a close second!
My only complaint is that these are not resealable so I’m forced to eat the entire can in one sitting. 😉
Vivians Tomato Soup – I am very much intrigued by this product because I want to see how good it can taste. I really love tomato soup when it’s paired with a grilled cheese sandwich (and hey look, it’s another food item in which I can add in bacon jam…!) so I’m hoping that this will be good. What I do already enjoy is the fact that this is super easy to make – just add hot water and you’re good to go!
Fusion Jerky Artisan Turkey Jerky in Rosemary Citrus – I absolutely LOVE jerky. It is seriously so good (but also kind of bad for you because of the high sodium) but it’s definitely a guilty pleasure. At first I was a little apprehensive about rosemary because that can be potent if not seasoned correctly. But omgggg this was so good. This tasted like Thanksgiving jerky. I’m not even kidding. The rosemary wasn’t overwhelming in a bad way, in fact, it was perfect because it reminded me of stuffing. I don’t know about you, but we use rosemary to make our Thanksgiving stuffing and this was honestly like eating turkey and stuffing in one bite. SO GOOD.
Justin’s Nut Butter in Classic Peanut Butter and Chocolate Hazelnut Butter – Um, yes. YESSSS. I love this stuff and I’m so psyched that they sent out two different kinds. Seriously, just send me all the Justin’s Nut Butter in all the flavors. Their nut butters are so smooth and rich in flavor. With packets, I don’t even bother using them on crackers, bread, or what have you… I just eat them straight. :p
Flyjoy Energy Bar in Espresso and Cacao Nib – I don’t enjoy eating quinoa in salads or in main dishes, but I love toasted quinoa in energy bars/snacks! I don’t drink coffee, but I don’t mind coffee-flavored things, for the most part. :p I think I’ll really like the cacao nibs though – those always pack a punch of chocolate and bitterness. This will be perfect for when I just need something quick for breakfast.
Baobab Drink Mix in Meyer Lemon and Peach Mango – This was the extra in this month’s box! It’s a healthy energy booth that is chock-full of vitamins. I’m never much for drink mixes because I always find them to taste artificial and flat, but hey if it’s in a subscription box, I’ll give it a try. 🙂 At least the flavors aren’t ones that I usually stay away from – lemon and peach mango sound relatively safe. :p
There were also some promo codes for the brands featured in this box!
The November 2014 Taste Guru box!
Overall enjoyment: Another awesome box! I’m still yearning after the turkey jerky (seriously, I actually want to go and buy some jerky this weekend) and I’m thinking of all the ways I can use that bacon jam. 😄 I think Taste Guru is definitely moving in the right direction and I sincerely hope that they continue this way because they are introducing so many awesome new brands of snacks in their boxes!
