Ahhhhh! My December Popsugar box came EARLY! 😀 I’m so happy that it arrived so quickly compared to the last two months when the box would arrive toward the end. I hope this means that Popsugar has gotten themselves back on track and will continue this trend of sending boxes out in a timely manner.
Williams-Sonoma Cupcake Mix in Vanilla Bean ($14.95) – Awww yeah. Give me all the different cupcake, cake, cookie, and brownie mixes! I love baking and this will be awesome to try out because let’s be real, most people wouldn’t drop $15 on a cupcake mix by themselves. (especially not when there are really amazing recipes online!)
I’m really glad that they sent out vanilla as opposed to chocolate because vanilla cake/cupcakes are a great vessel for other flavors/flavor profiles! You can easily add lemon and lemon zest to make it a lemon cupcake. You can add chocolate powder/chocolate chips to make it into a chocolate cupcake. Or you can split the cupcake batter into half, adding chocolate powder into one half and leaving the other vanilla to make zebra cupcakes! Or if you have food coloring, you can make RAINBOW cupcakes!! (okay I’ll stop now haha).
Canvas Home Hand Painted Bowl ($29) – For some reason, this is smaller than I had expected. But the fact that it’s smaller only makes it cuter! This is really well made and would make a great gift. It’s classy and adorable – the best of both worlds. 😀 It’s honestly too precious to use as a snack/food bowl. I think I’ll have to save it to use as a catchall for my jewelry or maybe random perfume samples!
Knot & Bow Gift Tags ($4) – These are nice and perfect for any gift-giving occasion. In other words, Popsugar learned from their mistake last year (they sent out wintery wrapping paper) and included something that was appropriate for December, but also usable in other months.
These would actually be really nice to use if you had a dinner party and wanted to give gift bags to your guests! (it’s nice when things match :p)
Smashbox Be Legendary Long Wear Lip Lacquer ($24) – This is not a cheap lip product at $24! Smashbox is pretty awesome in general but this color (Bordeaux) might be a little too dark for me. I would never wear this color on a regular basis because I really prefer more of a natural look. But this will make for a great gift to someone else. 😄
Sparkle Pop Sydney Necklace ($42) – This is absolutely gorgeous! Honestly so happy with this necklace. 😀 I thought it would be gaudy or cheap, but it is actually freaking beautiful in person. It really hits the sweet spot between delicate and statement. It has a looooooong chain so you can style it your own way. This is probably my favorite item in the box. Maybe. It’s kind of a toss up between this necklace, the bowl… and the next item!
Subtle Luxury Sparkle Scarf ($62) – This is so soft and it’s wonderfully sparkly! (but not overwhelmingly so) At first I was afraid that this would be too much and too “out there” for the office. But the scarf is a subtle cream color and the gold flecks are perfect for the holiday time!
For those of you who have been subscribed to Popsugar for a while, the “heaviness” of this scarf is somewhere between the Brokedown Ikat scarf and the Tilo scarf! It’s nice for a cool or windy day out.
The December 2014 Popsugar Must Have Box!
Overall value: $175.95
Overall enjoyment: This box is definitely up there with the best of the best! At least for me. 😀 This would have the been a perfect box if the lip lacquer had been a lighter shade, but dark lips are trendy for winter months/holidays so I totally understand why they included it. Other than that, I really do love all of the items in this box! I can never say no to a new scarf or a new necklace. :p The baker in me is super excited for that cupcake mix and the white bowl is just adorable. (I think most people will love that bowl!) And the tags are definitely useful for many occasions.
