Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve subscribed to Birchbox Man, but I’ll reveal why I decided to resubscribe for April at the very end of this post. Gotta keep you guys interested somehow, right? :p

April was a collaboration month with Mad Men, so the box itself was a different design.

And they thoughtfully included this mini fold-out pamphlet of different suits you could try out.

Plant Get It On Body Wash (1 fl oz/30 ml, $2.11) – This just makes me think of the song “Marvin Gaye” by Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor. Let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on…XD ANYWAY. This smells like a woodsy ginger ale thanks to the essential oils of sandalwood, ginger, and cedar. I’m not crazy about this scent, but maybe guys will like it more?

das boom Everywhere Lotion Detroi (29.6 ml/1 fl oz, $3.00) – Oh man, I really wasn’t sure what to expect but this does not smell good to me. XD NOT AT ALL. The tobacco, musk and motor oil combination? No. Just… no. Maybe it reacts really well with certain guys’ body chemistry but it smells really terrible to me straight out of the bottle.

Billy Jealousy Headlock Molding Cream (0.25 fl oz/7.39 ml, $2.00) – This? This smells AMAZING. You know how Abercrombie and Fitch stores smell? Well, this kind of smells like that but fainter and classier. :p Actually, that’s a terrible comparison because I know people have bad associations with the A&F perfume, haha. But this kind of reminds me of an English Laundry scent! I know my brother is going to love trying this.

Tommy John Cool Cotton Trunk ($29.00) – Well, I was hoping I wouldn’t be getting any sort of underwear in this box, so of course that’s what I got. Of course. I mean, it’s just awkward gifting someone a pair of underwear unless they’re your SO. XD I don’t think most people give underwear to their brothers, cousins, uncles, or fathers, right?? While there’s no denying that this pair feels really soft and well-made, I don’t think most people would want to spend close to $30 on just one pair of boxer briefs So I guess that’s what subscription boxes are for. XD

The April 2015 Birchbox Man

Overall value: $36.11

Overall enjoyment: Honestly, this wasn’t such a great box. Three of the four products weren’t really great, even though the das boom and the Plant bottles look really nice next to each other and would probably go great as part of a toiletry kit gift. The boxer briefs aren’t terrible, but out of all the life style items they sent out in April, it was literally the one I did not want. Oh well, you can’t win them all.

And now onto the reason why I even bothered subscribing again in the first place!

LSTN Headphones Bowery Earbuds ($50.00) – Birchbox was running a promotion; if you signed up for a Birchbox Man subscription and entered in a code, you would receive these in your first box! These are $50 earbuds that have great reviews and are awesomely stylish with the reclaimed wood. So yeah, I totally had to go for it. XD The pair I received was in Cherry wood, but they also come in Beech wood and Ebony wood. I might give these to my brother for his upcoming birthday… might.
