What is BetterBox?

Here it is from them!

“BetterBox is a monthly subscription service that delivers self-improvement experiences designed to help people live happier, healthier lives. Rather than another box that’s focused shipping stuff, BetterBox is focused on you. You. Living. Better.

Each month’s specially-crafted Better Box delivers a hand-designed Quest created to help nourish and nurture the best parts of your humanness. From discovering the Magic of Kindness to uncovering the Unexpected Beauty all around us, your monthly BetterBox Quest will engage both your body and mind on a new journey to living your best life.

Each Quest is comprised of simple, quick, and fun BetterBox Deeds, each designed specifically to support the month’s theme. During your Gratitude Quest you may be asked to write a note of appreciation to a friend using a provided appreciation card; during your Creativity Quest, you could be invited to go wild painting a watercolor postcard with your BetterBox paint set.

Each day a new deed, every one designed to help you work toward your Better life. And of course, the box itself includes all the provisions necessary to be successful.”

BetterBox reached out and asked me to review their box so that they could get the word out before their very first box ships on July 1st! So if you’re at a place in your life where you’d like to focus on yourself and maybe take a few minutes out of your day every day for a week to work through these simple, but fun exercises to help reflect on life, then this is a perfect box for you!

And hey, if you’re interested, use my discount code DAYS10 to get $10 off your first box! 😀

The quest I received to review was the Gratitude quest… which I think is oddly appropriate because I do think that I am at a point in my life where I need to slow down and just… reflect a little on what I have, what I need, and what I can give.

The first information card (top).

The bottom half details what you should have received in your box and how to get started!

This was the first task.

As you can see, I hadn’t filled it out at the time I took this photo. But I have since filled it out and let me tell you, it took some thinking to really produce answers that were genuine. There’s something about putting pen to paper that makes you think twice before actually writing down an answer.

So what happens is… after you sign-up/activate your link, you are sent an email every day in the morning for your quest of the day! I took a screenshot of Day 1 so that you can get an idea of what it looks like when you click on the link! It’s actually kind of nice to have something to look forward to every morning and it’s a good way to hold yourself accountable for that day’s quest.

Now what’s in the box?

These super cute cards!

Hand-crafted Appreciation Cards – Day 2’s quest was for you to write and send a hand-written note of appreciation to a friend or a loved one. I think this is a good way to ease into things after Day 1 because it’s always nice to show your appreciation to someone important in your life. These cards are adorable and so gorgeous… anyone would be happy to receive one! Even if you just write the words thank you and give this to someone, it still makes a huge impact because sometimes… it’s the little things that mean most and stick with people even years later.

Gourmet Tea (Tea Forte in Orchid Vanilla) – Day’s 3 quest requested that you just take some time to yourself and relax by admiring the sunset over a cup of tea. Then, because we’re social creatures and because it’s nice to share your experiences… to post a photo of the sunset/your cup of tea to your favorite social media platform!

I’ve got to say that I love the packaging of this tea (and how it smells)! I haven’t brewed it yet but I can’t wait to try this flavor. The description is: “smooth Yunnan black tea with Madagascar vanilla and the taste of fresh cut coconut”. How amazing does that sound? I’m saving this for a day when I need caffeine and something relaxing. 😉

Gratitude Touchstone – Day 4 was once again focused on you, but with a kind twist. The instructions were to go to a location for which you’re supremely grateful (their words), spend at least 30 minutes in quiet appreciation of the place (meditation or just to take the time to look around), and then to leave your gratitude touchstone behind for someone to find.

You know, I always wonder if someone will actually take note of this item and then pick it up and keep it.

Day 5 didn’t have anything to do with the items in the box; it was to simply perform a good deed. 🙂 The link for Day 5 came with a short list of ideas to start you off and honestly, your good deed doesn’t have to be BIG, it just has to be good. And really, small actions can mean worlds to someone who wasn’t expecting anything good to come their way.

Gratitude Proclamation Post-Its – The quest associated with this was pretty awesome because if you live with other people, it’s a good way to spread cheer to their day too. Day 6 asked you to take 5 of these gratitude sticky notes and on each one, write a different thing about your home/family that you’re grateful for… and then to post them around the house or at your cubicle so that you remember. I think the best thing is that you can use the rest of these sticky notes to express gratitude to a loved one or a co-worker at any time of the year.

Luxury Bath Salts in Sweet Red Hibiscus – Day 7 is gratitude for yourself! The instructions are simple – just take a bath with the bath salts included in the box and relax. 🙂 I thought what they had in the body of their final email was cute (and okay, it was a little cheesy – but I appreciated the thought): “Our final Deed is one that turns gratitude back on the beautiful one who looks back at you in the mirror each morning.”

Not going to lie – I have not used this because a) it’s too warm to take a bath here now that it’s summer and b) I’m not a bath person, haha. But I do like that they included this for those who do enjoy baths!

Appreciation Smiley Face Cookie – AND NOW I CAN EAT THIS DELICIOUS COOKIE! Gotta show myself more gratitude, of course. 😉 I do love that they have food items in here, hehehe. Boxes always get brownie points if they have edible components.

The BetterBox VIP Sampler for Gratitude!

Overall enjoyment: I’m not going to do a price breakdown for the box because this is not focused on value but rather improvement. 🙂 That aside, I thought that this was a pretty awesome box because it is just so different from all of the other subscription boxes I’ve received before. I will be honest and say that this is something you have to want. What do I mean by that? You have to want to do these exercises and you have believe in the message of this box for it to truly work. (I won’t go into Maslow’s hierarchy of needs). But seriously, if you want to better yourself and maybe spread a little cheer and happiness within your circle of loved ones, than you should go for it… and this is a great start to help give you that little boost of encouragement you need.

Now if this looks like something you would be interested in, be sure to sign up ASAP as they start shipping their first boxes on July 1st! And as previously mentioned in this post, you can use my promo code DAYS10 to get $10 off on your first box. 😀

  1. I am really intrigued by this box, but funds are sooo dang tight right now. I wonder if they do scholarships? Lol! Seriously, though, i love the messages these boxes put out into the universe. A box to make you and your world a better place? Brilliant and admirable!

    1. I’m really interested to see what their other quests include too! Haha, I think the closest thing they have to a scholarship is the $10 off discount code for now. XD But I totally agree – their messages and their boxes are a wonderful addition to our daily lives and community. 🙂
